How to use cost per wear without fooling yourself.
Cost per wear is a scenario, not a product score.
Use the formula
Cost per wear = current product price ÷ expected wears. Use the price and currency for the variant you are actually considering.
Choose a realistic wear count
Count likely occasions, seasons and care friction. If the candidate duplicates an item you already own, do not allocate the same future wears to both.
Compare scenarios
A €120 garment worn 60 times is €2 per wear. The same garment worn 12 times is €10 per wear. Showing both assumptions is more informative than presenting one precise-looking answer.
Do not treat price as proof
The estimate does not establish fit, condition, quality, durability or whether the item should be purchased. Update the scenario when your expected use changes.
